Friday Allergist Appointment

Liam's test results say he isn't allergic to anything obvious. We were given Singulair to help him. If that doesn't work within 3 days, we are on to other avenues to figure out what his illnesses are stemming from. The poor kid has had a "cold" since Christmas. It's just not right.

This is exactly what they did to Ethan's back when we to the allergy doc. Except, at the end of our session his back was not only covered in ink marks, but in red little bumps where he had allergic reactions.
So frustrating to not know what the cause of something is. Hopefully this specialist can help figure things out.

That is frustrating! Have they checked his immune system? I am IgA deficient which means that I don't make the antibodies that fight against respiratory infections. There isn't anything to do for it except if I have a bacterial infection like strep I need antibiotics (antibiotics don't fight viruses so those just have to be suffered through) to clear it up. And if I need a blood transfusion it must be IgA deficient as well or I could have an allergic reaction to the blood. Supposedly 1 in 500 people are IgA deficient so it is pretty common but not a lot of people know about it.... IgA stands for Immunoglubulin A

Poor little guy. That sucks. I hope the medicine is working though.

It isn't fair for kids to suffer and be miserable with colds. I hope they are able to find a solution soon.
