The Parade this morning...

This is Shannon. She is babysitting Liam this summer. Yesterday she invited us to come sit with her family for the Fourth of July parade that her younger brother, Adam, was marching in. Adam plays the trombone and Ian is his leader in the scouts.

Shannon and her friend camped out all night so we had good seats at 9am today. Shari (Shannon's Mom) and the kids showed up shortly after we did and Liam was really happy to see all his friends!

I love parades and anything else festive on any given holiday. Seeing the syncronized highway patrol motorcyles, hearing fire engine sirens and the local marching bands makes it feel like the Fourth of July. LOVE IT!

It was SO hot out there and Liam got really irritable shortly after we arrived. He did have a good time, though, and was really taken with the marching bands.

We hope to get Liam in the wading pool or a regular swimming pool sometime today. I will post pictures later.

Editor's note: We went to the pool and the cute pictures I had in mind DID NOT happen as Liam WAS NOT fond of the water. Plus it turned overcast outdoors and Liam was beyond exhausted and wouldn't take a nap before we left, so it wasn't the optimal timing for this "first". Oh well... another time...

William hates the water, too. I'm not sure how he would feel about parades. Your little Liam seems, for the most part, fairly easy going. Enjoy this. It won't last. hehe :-p

Looks like you had a full day! I can't believe how much Shannon and her family have grown up since we've moved!

Too cute! Funny that he doesn't like the pool but he loves his baths. Kids?!?! :) Looks like you had a great 4th!

Annabelle was afraid the first time we went in the pool... but now, after five or six times, she LOVES it. And when we walk by the pool she points at it like she wants to go in!

How nice to have a day at the parade with friends...

All of my kids have taken one summer to warm up to the water. So don't give up. I think that Jude has that exact swim suit. I don't think I have seen a picture of you. Is that you holding Liam? Cute pictures all round!

Looks like fun. Kaden is still unsure of the pool too. We got him a cool float that has a seat and a sun canopy. He's a lot more comfortable in the pool since we got him that. He still isn't excited about it though. Soon hopefully. I'm glad you had a good fourth. We did too! :)

Happy 4th of July Gina. We had fireworks in our University's Stadium and it was totally breathtaking. 4th of July is the BEST ^_^

He may not have been brave enough to go swimming, but you! Far more brave than I would ever be. The day I include a picture of myself in a bathing suit is the day that swimming pool magically turns into a pool of tapioca pudding. Gutsy girl!

But, of course, you look fabulous so I don't blame you for posting it.

Mrs. Chicky... "fabulous"? I don't think so. Notice the pasty pale skin, gross hair and yes, that is a skirted bathing suit! Brave? No, Ian just wouldn't get in the pool for ME to take photos, so it was all me.

And we did get the floaty boat for Liam, but he got pissed when we tried to put him in it. Little booger.

I didn't know kids didn't like water right off the bat. Hopefully there IS a next time.

What a great day. I love parades. It is such a hassle to go down and find seats for my family. You were lucky to have someone camp out for you. Wonder if she would save some for us for the 24th. Just Kidding.

My little ones were afraid of the pool too. Great pictures. So did you get caught off guard by that Utah storm on the fourth? We had quite a day dealing with that. There is more about our experince on my blog.

You do look good in your pic. :)

It looks like a fun day in spite of the rain.

I loved it when I babysat and the families included me as if I were one of their own. You are lucky to have each other.

Gina, I like that bathing suit! It looks great on you, where did you get it? I blogged if you want to check it out, but a warning, it's depressing.

Yay! My computer wasn't letting me see pictures. I thought I'd miss seeing Liam's intro to the water. But, DH fixed it. Poor little guy looks so wary! I'm sure he'll outgrow it. He looks so cute in his patriotic outfit!
