Today was Liam's school Trike-a-thon fundraiser. We both arranged our work schedules to be there to cheer him on this morning. It actually got rained out last Friday, so today was the back up time the school had arranged. I was glad we were there. Liam did 17 laps on his scooter in the 20 minute allotment. He was lightning fast!!! We were so proud of him not fizzling out.
In sadder news - We were the parents that forgot to bring our kid's helmet, but at least we were there. My heart went out to the little guy crying on the playground that had parents who didn't even sign his permission slip to participate, let alone come to support him. I wanted to take him home.
When I picked Liam up from school today, I grabbed his normal pile of artwork out of his shared cubby. His friend brings a humongous blue stuffed rabbit to nap with each day. It takes up the whole cubby so I am glad it isn't coat season anymore... Liam's stuff hardly fits in with the fat rabbit and/or massive blanket that is usually there.
Anyway, his friend with the rabbit got picked up a few seconds after we got there. As I was buckling Liam in his car seat, he saw his friend come out the door with that massive animal in tow. He said, "Awe, there's Jordan. {Sigh} He sure loves that rabbit." The way he stated it with no ounce of ire melted my heart and tickled my funny bone all at once. That Jordan must be a good friend to my son to encourage such endearing words. It was a sweet moment I had to write down.
Good night.
